Migration, Migration, Migration.

As we head into a fresh new term we are moving on to our new IPC unit – Migration and Moving People – and we would really appreciate your help!

Leicester is a proud multicultural city with many different people, cultures, nationalities and religions. This is because lots of people have moved to Leicester from other countries for different reasons, from finding a new job to problems in their native country.

Do you know anybody who moved to England from a different country? Did you  used to live abroad yourself? If so please leave a comment below as we would really like to learn about your experience and hear some of the reasons why you moved. We will be looking at this post over the next 6 weeks so anything you could share would be helpful 🙂 thank you!

    Hello Class 6CSh 🙂

I use to work with a man from Poland. He came to the UK because there was a lack of work for him in his country and he couldn’t provide for his family. He decided to move to Leicester and got a job with me at a printing company where he use to save his money and send it back home to his wife. He would go back home to Poland every few months to see his family and child.

    Keep up the good work!

    Hi guys,
Hope you are enjoying the Christmas break, I am. I know a few people who left England and moved to other countries to live. However, you might want to speak to Mrs Pegler when you get back to school.

  3. Miss Shearer's Dad says:

I moved to England when I was 2. I used to live in Ireland with my family where my Dad was a miner. My Mum was English and never liked living in Ireland and my Dad was finding it very difficult to find work as the mines started closing down so they moved us all to England to find work.

  4. Bridget Cook, Miss Shearer's best friend says:

    Hello 🙂

I was born in the UK but then moved to America when I was very young because my dad got a better job over there and wanted more money to help provide for myself, my mum and my 3 siblings. After living there for over ten years, my mum decided she wanted to move back to the UK to be closer to our other family again, so we moved back to the UK.

It is always very hard moving countries and was extremely helpful when other people were understanding of new things I wasn’t used to and helped me to settle in.

    Hi,

My name is John and I have just retired. Me and my wife Maggie decided we would move to France because the weather is so much nicer out here! Also life is so much cheaper so we could buy a nice little cottage and can afford a lot more on our pensions than we could when we were in England! I hope this helps you and good luck in your new topic!

    John
